On Monday, I took my driver’s test, I failed on the first turn. Why? Because of a fucking bike lane that was hard to see that I accidentally went into. Apparently it counted as “Not being aware of traffic” despite the fact that I looked both ways and didn’t see the damn thing. And too top it off my piss-ant dad said that “Because I didn’t practice enough and I don’t pay attention I deserved to fail” even though when he drives me he’s always quick to be a backseat driver from the passenger’s seat and cause me stress, it ain’t my fault when you stress me ASSHOLE!!! Bottom line, I’m pissed, it was an honest mistake and I got crap for it. Won’t be cruising in the ETC anytime soon :(

You’ll be fine, you will just have to retake it. A year from now it probably won’t even matter

Knowing that you failed only because of the bike lane, you should have no problems retaking it next time. And just be glad you aren’t this new driver.

You are causing yourself stress. Listen to your dad, he’s got years of driving experience on you.

I didnt pass my first test. Mine was also a techincality. There was a landscapers truck parked in front of a stop sign (quiet residential road), so I had to step into oncoming to even get to the line to make my 1-2-3-stop, he didint tell me I failed till we got back.. Like how the hell else do you handle a car parked in that manner?! Wait till they are done is the answer that Asshole tester was expecting I bet...
Also, when it comes time to teach our kids, I bet we’d be stressed out too! But I doubt it’ll come to that, there will be driverless cars long before they will be old enough to drive. shame..

I failed my first test too and got a perfect score on my second one. Don’t sweat it you’ll be fine. Don’t put it on your dad, even if it is his fault. When you’re driving it’s all on you. Ask your dad if he’ll chip in to have you do a couple hours of driving instruction with a professional instructor. The biggest talent those guys have is getting you in the right mindset and not being someone you have strong emotional connection to. Alternatively some parents agree to teach the other one’s kid because parents are too attached to their kids and over react a lot. I know I’ll try to teach my kid but I’ll also try to get someone else to help as well. Also if you tell the driving instructor you’re specifically practicing for the test they’ll take you through the route and show you all the tips and tricks.

I almost failed my test because I was so nervous I forgot what a 3 or turn was and tried doing a U turn.
